Free Gift Tracker and Gift Diary: Record Gifts Given and Received, Keep a Thank-You List and Plan the Gifts Still to Buy

👥 Who is this for?

For anyone who gives and receives gifts and wants to remember them:

• Families keeping track of birthdays, anniversaries and festival gifts across the year, so nobody gets the same scarf twice
• Couples after a wedding typing up the register from a notebook and working through the thank-you notes
• New parents recording who sent what when the baby arrived
• People with a big extended family who exchange gifts at festivals and want a fair, factual record of both directions
• Office and society organisers logging farewell gifts, collections and thank-yous
• Anyone planning gifts who wants their options, budget and reasons in one place instead of scattered notes

What it deliberately does not do: it never works out who owes whom. Given and received sit side by side with their own counts and totals; the diary does not subtract one from the other or comment on a relationship. It also ships no calendar of festivals; you name your own occasions, so it works the same in Kerala, Kraków or Kyoto.

📋 How to use it

1. Record a gift:

Given or received, to or from whom, what it was and roughly when. The month is enough. Add an amount, a reaction and a note if you like. People are created as you type them; there is no list to set up first.

2. Type up a register:

Quick add holds the direction, the occasion and the month, and asks only for person, gift and amount. Press Enter and the next row is ready. A wedding register of two hundred gifts takes one sitting.

3. Open a person:

Everything you gave them on the left, everything they gave you on the right, with counts and totals per direction. Gifts to a couple or a family stay on the group, so nothing is counted twice.

4. Add occasions:

A fixed date, a yearly date, or a season. For festivals that move against the calendar, give a month window and pin the exact date when you know it. The diary shows what is coming up when you open it.

5. Plan the next gift:

The planner keeps one worksheet per occasion: who you are buying for, the options you are weighing, their costs, and the reason you chose. Mark a gift as given and it enters the diary; rejected ideas never do.
